The rooms are casual in the best sense — generous depth, natural light, a relationship with the outside that the furniture needs to work with rather than against. Lower Palisades homes face the water or sit close enough to feel it. The living room is a room people actually live in — deep sofas, breathable fabrics, configurations that open toward the outside rather than close against it. A standard 34-inch sofa depth does not work here. We build the lower Palisades sofa with 38 to 44 inches of seat depth, in Belgian linen or performance linen that handles the coastal air, in a configuration that works with the room's relationship to the outside.
Riviera and Castellammare homes are designed spaces. The architect considered every wall length, every ceiling height, every sightline. The sofa has to honour those decisions — built to the exact wall span, at the depth that works with the floor plan, in a fabric that carries the room's formal quality. Belgian linen and natural velvet are the fabrics of choice here. Close is not close enough in a room someone paid an architect to get exactly right.
