CertiPUR-US Certified Foam
Every Made By Inch sofa uses CertiPUR-US certified foam — independently tested to be free from ozone depleters, PBDE flame retardants, TCEP, mercury, lead, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates. This certification is the most rigorous independent foam safety standard available in the US furniture market.
TCEP, TDCPP, and PBDE flame retardants are linked to thyroid disruption, developmental issues, and carcinogen exposure. Standard foam in most furniture stores contains them.
Formaldehyde-based fabric finishes off-gas for months after delivery. Linked to respiratory irritation and classified as a known carcinogen. Our fabrics are untreated natural fibres — nothing applied to the surface.
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances are waterproofing chemicals with known bioaccumulation and health risks. Banned in several states but still present in many "stain-resistant" upholstery treatments.
